Dr. Scarabelli, while conducting his postdoctoral researcher position in the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona’s (ICMAB-CSIC) Nanopto Group, was awarded the prestigious “la Caixa” Junior Leader Fellowship, co-funded by the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Leonardo was one of only 30 researchers selected from 282 proposals, marking the first time ICMAB has hosted a recipient of this competitive grant. His project, which began December 2020, focused on using polaritonic materials to explore new levels of control over chemical reactivity and optical phenomena at the nanoscale, with potential transformative implications for technologies like quantum computing and advanced optoelectronics.
